Post Drain for Differential - 2001 - 5.4L 2WD

Any one know if there is a drain for the 2001 F-150 differential? I just need to to drain off a little fluid so I can add friction modifier. Shop didn't add it when I had the fluid changed and the clutches started shuttering. Seems to me one of the lower bolts on the back plate might also function as a drain. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks,
RWH

I believe you drain those by removing the cover....

Not completely sure though.

Sorry to say that the bolts are just bolts and none of them are drains. You would have to break the seal for any fluid to come out of the cover. Easiest way will be just to take a turkey baster and some hose and suck out some of the fluid through the fill hole.

They sell a hand pump to suck it out...or pull the cover.

remove the cover or use a hand suction pump to pump it out. But if all you need to do is add one of them small bottles of friction modifier, i'd just put it in. As long as it doesn't flow out of the check plug hole you should be good.

I say take it back to the shop and have them suck some out and put it in for you. They should've known better to put the friction modifier in it in the first place.

Thanks for the help. I ended up using my antifreeze specific gravity checker to suck out enough fluid so the friction modifier would fit without flowing out as i added it.
