Default DPFE sensor moisture???

I have a 2002 F150, 5.4v8. Twice it has stalled out in heavy rain. Started back up a couple times with the tac going up and down like crazy and then stalled out again. After awhile haven't been able to start it up again, after it dries up it runs fine again. Shop has never been able to find out what caused this because it never left any codes. I recently got a code that one of the hoses running to the dpfe sensor was plugged or off. The hose had a big tear in it and it was replaced. I know nothing about the dpfe but could this have been my problem with the rain? Would moisture getting into this hose have caused my truck to stall? I am thinking maybe I fixed it but still scared of the rain. Thought I would see if someone had some advice. Thanks for any help.
