Mustangs with mod motors use M12, so assumed these did too.

If all I had were M12, the vehicle would have M12's. Much easier to go bigger than smaller.

When I separated the exhaust from manifold, there was no gasket, no doughnut.

That is all I can find for videos from all the top dogs. I was looking for one about replacing manifold studs at the exhaust flange.

I said "I'm removing the exhaust from the manifold". I did not say I'm removing the manifold. From everything I read so far, the studs are M8x1.25mm. That's the size I have bought. I haven't received the tap yet. I have all standard size taps and no metrics. It may be a little sloppy; that why I'm asking about Helicoils, which I also have bought. But that might not be a long lasting solution either. That's why I asked about the bolt and nut. Ultimatenoobie is the only one so far, that told me no douhnut is right.

Yeah, you're confused and confusing the hell out of everyone else. The studs that go IN THE HEAD are M8 X 1.25mm. These are ALSO a stud with a nut. So, if you bought those for the collectors, you've got the wrong thing.
