Default door ding

my door dings when the key is out. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem. I have to giggle the key slot to make it stop. Very annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem in my 97 XLT. It's VERY annoying! I would love to know how to make it stop too!!

Where is the gem module? Ive never heard of that. Noob here so forgive my lack of knowledge.

I had a '94 Explorer and once the plastic was removed around the steering column there was a little clip on the ignition that if not in place would do that. Also, check to see if the switch on the door is working properly.

I saw the clip last night, and tried to move it but didnt get any play in it, when I tilt my wheel to a certain position it stops though, and I cannot find the switch on the door????

The door switch is usually on the jam sometimes with a rubber boot over it. When you push it your interior lights should go off.
