Default Does my 2000 Ford Triton 4.6 need a new Flywheel?

Whenever I go to start the truck and the steering wheel is not perfectly alligned in the center of the steering column I get a loud Squeal instead of the truck starting. If I turn the wheel to the center then it will start normal. What in your experienced knowledge is the problem? The truck is All stock and has 200,000 miles. Alway serviced and maintained.

Thanks for the help....

Flex plate. No, you don't need a new one. When you turn the key, your starter engages the flex plate. Turning the steering wheel doesn't make a difference as both your transmission and starter are stationary.

So I need a Flex Plate to fix the problem? Is that easy to fix? I do not know why so many folks told me they thought it was the Fly-Wheel

Do you have a manual transmission?

Did you read my post? If you're not going to list to what people have to say, why even ask?

My bad............I do have an automatic transmission. Since it Is an Automatic I would require a Flexplate. The manual would require the Flywheel.

What would be the correct way to fix the problem I have with the truck starting since it will not be the flexplate?

Thanks for understanding my Lack of Knowledge
