Led bar with spot lights will shine pretty far.. most people run a spot/flood combo

I am not a fan of the look of the LED bars behind the grill. You just see this big white strip behind the grill and does not look good IMO. Not sure on light output as to which is better. I know with the KC style lights you can put HID bulbs in them to get some better light output on those dark back roads though. if you had a bull bar/ grill guard the LED bar might look OK, but it is also easier to steal there.
Also, LED's do come in different color ranges, so you could match your HID headlights with the LED bar (as well as matching color HID bulbs in the KC style lights).
Sweet. So should I get the led KCs or the regular ones to put hid bulbs in?

IDK guys, I'd put IPF900's up against a lightbar any day. That said, I think each type has their place.

How many people actually use them for a purpose? It's pretty rare to see them in use unless you're wheeling at night.

I think the advantage of LED's on the roof is they're harder to steal, they appear to be more aerodynamic and they don't need a huge rack or bar for mounting and protection.

Yeah it goes pretty far, but it's a wide range. It's not a focused beam on one point like the KC's are. Light bars are definitely more useful.
