Question Do I need new shocks?

Hi All,

I've got a stock 2003 F-150 XLT Supercab with about 69k miles on it. I'm the second owner and have had it for about 3 years now. This is my first truck and I'm not all that handy with automotive mechanics, so I'm coming to you guys with what is probably a silly question.

I've noticed that it seems to be very bouncy, especially when going over bumps. A slow roll over a speed bump and it seems like I'm in a bounce-house for about 3-5 seconds after. I'm guessing this points to needing new shocks or is this just how it is?

If shocks are needed, what do you guys recommend? I don't want to spend an arm and leg, but would like something that will remove the bounce-hounce factor but offer a nice smooth and comfy ride.

Thanks!

I have had good luck with Monroe Gas Magnums.
You can get them pretty cheap from Advance Auto with their discount coupon deal (Set of 4 for under $100).
