Default Differential Cover Question

I have an 03' with the fx4 package and some after-market offroad accessories. I'm thinking of changing differential covers and I'm pretty sure I got the rear all squared away, but I haven't seen any covers that are explicitly for the front differential use. My question is can I use any cover that will fit a ford 8.8 - are diff covers for the most part universal in front v. rear application- or does it have to explicitly be designed to fit the front differential?
Thanks

It definately has to be designed for it, because the bolt pattern are different for most axles. mag hytec makes one for the 8.8 I have them for front and rear, and I love them!
