Default difference between bumper assembly and bumper cover

pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between a bumper assembly and bumper cover? my bumper is rusted thru on one side. thanks

an assembly usually means it comes with all the brackets on the bumper..has everything needed to bolt it to the truck...the bumper itself is JUST the bumper no brackets no nothing

The "bumper cover" is the black plastic that sits on top of your rear bumper.
