Darn that sucks. I have a 2000 2wd, that's why I didn't know that lol. I'm surprised they went that route, we have a 2001 excursion that still has the manual hubs.

Lol. Yeah. The excursion used the same platform as the Super Duty. Personally, I'd prefer manual hubs over electronic or vacuum actuated any day. I removed the vacuum disconnect on mine & replaced it with a mechanical cable. All I do is pull a **** and I'm locked in.

As long as the you kept the u joints in good condition no vibes to speak off. I dd mine for a couple years with the front welded. However i did go through front u joints quite regularly.

I agree though a front locker is over kill for a dd
