Dashboard brake light not working
I took the wife and myself down to the local Lowe's yesterday to purchase a piece of siding for our house. When I arrived in the parking lot and got out of the 2000 F150 XLT I noticed I hadn't released the parking brake. I hopped back in the truck and fired it up and noticed the parking brake light did not come on as the e-brake was fully depressed. Thus I drove to town not realizing I hadn't released the brake. Now comes my query.....Where is the fuse so I can see if it is blown? How hard is it to replace the light bulb and is there a sticky on how to tear apart the dash to get to the light? Also on a different yet similar quest, sometimes my flashers come on for no apparent reason. I'll start the truck and they begin flashing. I hit the hazard button on top of the steering wheel column to make the flashing stop. Then, all is good. It is not really detrimental to the operation of the vehicle, but it is kind of irritating that it happens at all. Anyone have a suggestion? I'm thinking it might be the relay going south. Heck, the truck is 25 years old and I'm sure after a while there are components that are way past their normal lifespan.
Same problem here couple years ago. Don't chase fuses, relays or cluster until you check switch on Parking Brake assy. The switch gets tarnished over time and doesn't make contact. A bear to get to! I finally found a way to get a small relay file on there and cleaned the contacts, Good luck. Worked for me!
This would be a good place to start for the hazard light issue. https://parts.applefordwhitebearlake...-yl5z13k359aaa
