Default Dash light troubles...

Anyone good with dash lights?

My airbag light blinks and then stays on.

4x4 lights don't work (don't know if it's even working)

Abs lights on and keeps blowing the abs fuse under the hood.

Anyone have the pin outs for a 97 4.6 4r70w 4wd truck?

The airbag light flashing corresponds to a specific issue. For example if it flashes twice, then pauses then flashes seven more times it means something specific. (I might be off on the details but the point remains).

For me it was the light bulb that indicates whether the passenger side airbag was on or off. It was burned out so it triggered the airbag light to flash that specific code. It was a simple fix just soldered in a new one. Figure out the sequence it's flashing and work from there. (google)

The other issue I do not have any advice for sorry.

Good luck
-Mike

This might help.

I'm completely stumped. I've tried unplugging the connectors on the abs module, the sensors (all 3) the tail lights, the 3 main plugs going to the back half of the truck and nothing. It still blows the fuse. I really wish someone had a complete wiring pinout of these trucks

Ok I've been checking by disconnecting plugs and finally found one that made it quit. When I disconnected the top connector on the 3 that go into the cab it stopped. I had also tried the boo switch, pb sensor, etc so now, it's down to something inside the cab it would appear. Anyone have a schematic of the wires after the bulkhead?

Airbag can easily kill you if it detonates on your face & it can also easily break the bones in your arm. Just borrow a code reader or bring it to the dealer to extract the codes.

I'm not worried about the airbag right now. I'm worried about the short in the c148 connector under the dash causing my abs fuse to blow constantly

All shorted wires cause trouble. Period. And us '97-'98 owners have the misfortune to have those "film" connectors on the rear of the gauge cluster as a "circuit board." To handle those intermittent/open connections, slide a small piece of cardboard BEHIND the film, so when you connect the plugs, it makes a tight, solid connection. That's what fixed my Battery and Oil Pressure gauge reading 0 problem.

Well I guess if I'm dead I don't have to worry about the truck anymore? But right now I can't drive it because of the short. I know which 2 wires go from the abs fuse into the dash bust idk what they are supposed to go to...
