I had to replace the bulbs in my 97 f150. I couldn't see the gas guage and the left and right side of my speedometer. I had to buy 2 packs of 194 Bulbs. 2 bulbs per pack about 5 dollars a back. Different bulbs are used to operate the notification signals such as the check engine light, high beams indicator, etc. I think those bulbs were 87 or something like that. The 194 bulbs are fairly big, about the size of your finger tip. The 87's are small. But they should help you with which bulbs you need when you tell them what model vehicle you have. Installation is fairly easy, or atleast was for me. Just remove the trim around the steering colomn (under the instrument cluster). Just pull that off with a flathead screwdriver, its only held on by a few clips. Then remove the knee blocker plate below the steering colomn, Note: you may have to remove the hood release ****. Its only held on by 2 screws, 1 screw is located under the ****. You will see it when you pull it. Remove all other screws and remove headlight switch. Then pull out headlight switch panel and unplug wire cluster. Then remove Instrument bezel screws. and pull it off. Then undo screws around instrument cluster and pull out, undo wires from instrument cluster. NOTE: if you have a automatic you may have to take out the indicators that show which gear you it (park, Neutral, 1, 2, etc.) I don't know what you will need to take that out, probably a small screwdriver to stick in the sides of to push in the clips. I didn't have to do that see how my truck is a manual shift. After that you should be able to pull it out and flip it over to where you can undo the bulbs. The bulbs are held in my little plastic lockers, Turn them counterclockwise and they should pop right out. Good luck

On my 97, 5 194LL and 2 37's.

The 4X4 switch is an odd ball that's only available at the dealer.
I got one and the current style has changed a bit and it won't work.
I'm going to try to fix it with an LED someday when I get time.
