Default Dash Cam delima

Anyone else have an issue with Dash Cam runs 5 mins and gets too hot and cuts off, or burns(?) out? I use the cigarette lighter connection for power. I have gone thru 4 dash cams in 3 weeks.
When I get a new one and plug it in, everything works for 5 mins and then the picture is gone the camera starts getting very hot. I unplug everything and try it later. Nothing! I assume I have fried it. I guess I’ve started getting to an overload at the cigarette lighter. I don’t have, or don’t notice, any other issues with electrical. Stumped.
**forgot to mention it’s a 2001 F150.

I maybe wrong here but most dash cams are 5 volt. Are you feeding 12 volts from cig plug?

Default Apexcam Dashcam

I’ve been using the cigarette lighter adapter supplied by the manufacturer for years without an issue. Just the last 3-4 weeks seems like I’m started getting too many volts to lighter plug and burned the cam out. It’s a 2001 f150 Super Crew.
