Default CV Bellow hole (boot)

I got towed, but also recently didn't see a big pothole and so now my passenger side CV bellow has a hole. Sprayed a bit a grease in the wheel well.

Wondering what your opinion on a fix is:
- silicone patch?
- new bellow which would be a ton of work?
- brick on accelerator + cliff?

If silicone: what's a good kind for rubber boots(bellows)?

I would just get a new CV, they are cheap (I think mine where 50 each?) and easy to replace.

Thanks for the recommend: do you typically replace both cv s, when you do it?

When I had to do mine I did replace both for a couple reasons. They are cheap and easy to install, and my OCD does not like mis matched things lol.

1 is fine. Not the type of component that requires changing both. Plus it'll save you time and money.

I am also curious. Has the car repair industry come up with a lasting CV boot repair method yet?

Regarding replacing both axles, what gets unbalanced/mismatched if just one side is replaced?

I don't think you need to replace both, the 2 shops I went to was going to just replace the bad one, and O'reilys was surprised when I got 2 lol. I don't think it is a must to get both, I did because they are cheap and easy to replace. If you are like me and don't take the tire off (it was a bet, not that I didn't want to lol) it should take around 1-2 hours to do both.

Just replace the one. Get a remanufactured unit from the like of Napa or equivalent. Make sure it has OE Ford joints(splined shaft along with bolt up flange). This will ensure they last the longest and dont bind.
