ok well i took my truck to a mudd event 3 weeks ago..all mudd no water..pretty much like clay..well the other day i got my self in some sugar sand and lock in my 4x4 and have cv axles make clicking noises..sound of a bad axle..only does it in 4x4 left or right or straight still does it..the cv axles look fine..the passager one has a slight tear in it..but sound coming from the driver side..umm could it be my transfer case? i can spin the shaft by hand and makes no nosie..thoughts? its 99 f150 4.2 v6 5 speed..thanks.

 

When is the last time you serviced the front drive shaft, sounds like maybe the ujoints.

 

umm never..i got the truck used..if the ujoints are bad..they should make noise when i spin the shaft by hand right?

 

I'm having the same problem but my front wheels will not spin when I hit the gas.

 

Not really, most issues crop up when loads are applied
