Default Custom power door locks and keyless entry

Anyone ever started with a non-power door lock truck and added keyless entry? Ive seen some kits that have some type of actuator that can lock and unlock the door with a keyfob. Would be nice to be able to unlock the passenger side of the truck without having to get in the truck first and reaching over to the passenger door. Especially when your hands are full.

thats harder
Not only dont have actuators, but switches, wires, correct armrests/doorskins, etc

The keyless entry is easy part, cheap too. What your missing is the hard part. A junkyard visit might get what you need cheap

I'm only concerned about the keyless entry. So I'm not worried about having power switches inside the truck.

You still need actuators, linkages, etc

Just changing an actuator is difficult, an excercise in blind work with hands inside door trying to manipulate linkage and actuator to fit together in the seeming impossible manner. Its like the puzzles wirh two bent nails that are linked, there is only one way to get them together, and you cant see what your doing. It looks simple, and is, but you cant turn parts the way you want due to limited dpace.

Installing one thats never been there , without knowing how it came out, would be challenging.
Keyless entry wire will attach to your existing wires to actuator normally
It could be rigged to be only way im sure.
I imagine mounting bolt holes are present

Couple of weeks ago I added power locks to a 2003 F150 Supercab that had manual locks. 4-5 hour job with a 60$ cost that anyone with basic tools and patience can do. I ordered a SPAL 37000148 kit from Ebay along with a Spal Power switch which I added to the drivers door. No key fob.(yet) The door lock actuators were easy to install and only involved drilling 2 holes in each door frame once I removed the trim panels.

The new actuator linkages were easy to form and attach to the stock linkage. The actuators work together. When one is activated it activates the other. I can open/lock the passenger door lock from the switch I added. When I use the key to unlock the driver door it does not open the passengers side latch due to the fact the key does not move the linkage enough to trigger the actuator.

The only difference I notice is the key lock movement is a bit stiffer due to the fact your are moving the actuator when unlocking the door. The hardest part of installation was routing the the new actuator wire harness through to the drivers door. The Spal kit was a bit more expensive than other kits but had good reviews.

A pic of my door switch is below. I put it just below the arm rest.
