Default Could this be the Fuel Problem?

For all you experienced ones, I've been have problems with lack of power, But it only happens when I have driven the beast (97 F150 XLT 4.6L / auto trans.)for a duration of time. I changed about every sensor and it still happens(never got any ECM codes). I finally decided to pull the fuel pump and found this, dirt on the intake of the pump and some sand in the well of the tank. Theres alway been 40 PSI? Could this cause the beast to surge back and forth as if theres lack of fuel? (I'm still going to flush it cause im there)please give me your opinion on this.

I agree, The sand in the tank is to big to go thru the sock, so I think it just sticks to it and restricts the flow.

Ya, I changed the Fuel filter when it started

That was it, The truck runs like new, I don't know how the tank got filled with this (I think dirt or sand) other guys think its from sitting without use for a long period of time? I went ahead and bought a new Intek fuel pump and what a difference when i turn the key, the old one sounded like it was laboring compared to this one.

Ya, It was happening on and off for over a year with no ECL, I was only able to use it around town without it acting up(my town is approx. 7 mi. sq.). Good think I have a company vehicle. now I can go on those trips that never happened!

Flushed it, No more dirt and Hitting RPM's I've never seen!

Somewhere you got gas from a gas station tank that had a hole in it and sand got in the gas. When they fill up an almost empty tank it stirs up all the garbage and the first customers always get it.
I get the EPA would love to know where that gas station is.
I wish they never went to the in tank fuel pumps, I don't like them at all.
Good for you in fixing the problem.
