Ice, that sounds like a fair deal, at least its not highway robbery.

There is one junkyard that I've been to a couple times with a friend. I looked on their website and they recently got in a F150 with over 150,000mi. on it, but the rear end was the type I wanted. I clicked on the listing to see how much they wanted for it, and they want $750

Must be that rare F150 axle made of inconel and titanium, ha!

^^^ Ouch! Yeah, I've seen rear-end listings on ebay for $625, and I thought it was ridiculous. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have a local junkyard where I can get any rear-end I want for $60. Although you pull everything yourself, I have more time than money.

Yeah I understand that man, I'm in the exact opposite situation right now, but I've been in your place too.

I put up an ad on craigslist for this job, and a guy contacted me that said he owns a repair shop that installs gears and builds custom axles. He quoted me at approx. $200 for labor to replace a diff. I may just go that route.

I never had much luck getting answers off craigslist, plus this guy in town has a really good rep and he loves fords so I am going to entrust my baby with him....he did some work on my ranger for me a few years back and that little truck, after he was done, could go up/over/through anything.
