Worst case with what I got going right now but how much should I expect to pay to have someone put in a head gasket for me

About 2k. depending on the shop. The expensive parts are the timing components, along with Motorcraft gaskets.

I'd just look for an engine, -unless you have to farm that out as well.

Labor is gonna cost 2-3 times what parts cost. Although it's best to replace timing parts, you don't have to if it's in decent shape.

If you do it yourself with gaskets it wouldn't be too bad. Just gaskets and new head bolts.

However if you are spending this much on repair, you may want to look at another used engine.

Take a look at this site: http://repairpal.com/estimator

Handy for finding estimated repair costs for your area. It's pretty spot on for my neck of the woods.

That is nice since I haven't had the ALLData sub in awhile. ALLData provides Ford estimates, both of them. Yea, there's two if your unaware. One is service, the other is warranty. They are different.

Of course there's always OASIS.

Are you loosing any coolant? If you arent it may not be a bad headgasket. It could be a defective t-stat. Have you block tested it yet?

Just changed head gaskets, intake gaskets, front cover gaskets, cht sensor, and the thermostat, for around $260, with me doing the work of course, I reused my head bolts, which you can do, but that is up to you. If I had not been able to do the work myself, it would have cost more than the truck was worth probably. Truck has 212,xxx miles on it and has never run better.
