Default Correct Tyres?

1998 F150 4.6 Supercab 2WD.

Door panel says 255 70 R16, currently has 275s (Bridgestone Dueller rear/Endura Runway front) but am buying a set of Cooper Discoverer ATRs at 265. Any forseeable problems? Think bigger tyres have reduced fuel economy so going for slightly smaller size.

Has Coopers on my 2wd Dakota and they were great in all conditions and surfaces.

Wadda ya think?

Cheers
Damo

Hubby runs 265/75R16 on his 2002 4.2 SCab 2WD. Didn't even have to make any adjustments to the odometer or speedometer.

Thumbs up

255/70/16 on 16x7's was recommended on mine but i'm running 265/75/16 on 16x8's with BFG KM2's, no problem to report. If I'm doing the math correct I'm getting roughly 19 mpg hwy/ 16 city. It's an 03 4.2l V6 4x2 Scab so I would think yours would get the same if not better mileage...just a guess though. With 3.55 gears and no speedo correction my speedometer is spot on from 0-30, at 60 its off by 3mph, 95mph its doing about 99mph. About 5% off to make it easier. No rubbing whatsoever when turning also! Hope this helps!
