Correct (rim) wheel size (offset)
(1) I recently purchased a 97 F-150, 4.2 V6, extended cab, 3 door, rear wheel drive, 7 1/2 foot bed Lariat. There was issue with passenger front wheel assembly such I feel I should replace the rim. My struggle to replace it with correct OEM product. For reference the VIN is 1FTDX1769VNC96286. The offset number is the point of contention. Again, I am looking for what it came with from the factory.
(2) If anyone has some advice as much of the lingo is confusing. Ideally I would like an aluminum cast rim where the lip area that comes in contact with the tire is machined to achieve a true as possible working surface.

Do you want the OEM wheel or a custom wheel with an OEM fit? If the former, just get an OEM wheel for a 97 F-150, 4.2 V6, extended cab, 3 door, rear wheel drive, 7 1/2 foot bed Lariat and it will have the correct offset.
RaMaC - mine is an '01. Sadly,my oh w a notepad if all my gleaned info got wet once too often. Wheels have specs between brands, and then within the brand, between yrs and models. Generally the lips will seal well, because a Michellein/etc is one lip fits all.
The "circle" through which 4, 5 or 6 lugnut holes is drilled is one. Ford for F150's in tenth gen are the same, and w 5 holes. I want to say, 135mm, but you must confirm this.
Lugnut holes went from 9th gen or maybe early tenth gen at 12 mm to 14 for my '01. In fact I bout some 97(?) Expedition wheels and bored from 12 to 14. Hub caps were retained differently, and none now work. (If you try, get a step drill w FEW steps and do your math. 12 mm lugs take a 13 hole; 14s, a 15. I was on a severe budget.)
Doing this ridded my of my 16s, (17s were an upgrade. I got my '01 used,) & got me 17s. This effectively made my 3.35 rear, a 3.005, or, my 330CI(5.4) into a 296. (The 4.6 is 280 CI.)
Offset is stamped on my wheels, at 14. I can do 265's, one stock size. Generally it means 285s fit.
Lastly is rim width. My 01 was 7", and the Expedition, 7.5. Or mine was 7.5 & I got 8. Some rims have this near the lugnuts. Best I can do today. In a day or few, I could go to the shop and look yours up.
I see one rim for 80-120 a lot, 2000 mi away. Now and then, 4/75, is not cosmetic shape. 3mm wheels and paint to the rescue. Craig's List, eBay... No fan of FaceBook but its MarketPlace was best... semi-near, stuff folks want to dump.
