Default Coolant capacity

This says 25.5 quarts (just over six gallons) for my '01 Supercrew: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/103...age=262#manual. Several threads here and elsewhere say four gallons. Which is it?

After draining at the radiator and drivers side block drain, I got maybe 2.5 gallons of water back in. Is there really 3-4 gallons of coolant hiding behind the passenger block drain (and where is it, btw? I assume hiding behind the starter?).

Anyway, I thought I'd cycle distilled water through until it runs clear, and then add the right amount of coolant to get the correct dilution. But I need to know the total system capacity and I can't find a straight answer.

I wasn't going throw engine size at him yet. This might take awhile.

Maybe quarts are smaller in the future.
