Default Constant running of A/C pump?

I just bought a 2001 F150 factory CNG. I have never driven Fords before, so this may not actually be something wrong.

The AC pump runs in all setting except OFF. I would assume only the fan should run in PANEL, etc. and that the pump should only run in the AC settings.

Any help is appreciated.

Isn't there a seperate ac button on your panel. The Compressor should shut off if that button is not lit up, unless in max ac or defrost.

No extra setting for AC. Just

a/c max
a/c
panel
off
etc.

Just did a service on my 02. AC runs in all positions. Off in following, 1=panel. 2=off. 3=floor. AC=ON, MAX AC=ON, FLOOR & DEF=ON, DEF=ON.

According to the owner's manual for my '99, the condensor runs if the temp is above 50 degrees in all positions except for panel and floor.
The a/c only runs when its set to a/c or max a/c. They do this because there are times when youd like the humidity pulled out of the air but dont need that air to be cooled.

In my '01, it seems like the air coming out of the vent on "panel" is just as cold as when you turn the switch to the "ac" setting, and according to the cold air being discharged in the ac mode, I don't believe the system needs recharged. I kinda thought maybe something was wrong with mine too, but wasn't sure...
