Question Confused

Here's the story in a nut shell, Driving home (97 F150 4.6 200000K) smelled anti-freeze figured it might be a heater core so I turned the panel to defog full hot and sure enough window foged up. Replaced heater core and this is where everything went south, Dash is still off just reconnected all connectors to do an operational check (checked bad)

1. no heat, blend motor does not move, checked all wires and fuses (good) suspect bad temp control switch or motor???

2. Coolant system not operating properly, let run for 15min upper radiator hose barley warm same with the lower, replaced t-stat no change. I did suspect a water pump but when I disconnected the upper radiator hose and started the truck had plenty of flow. Would this not indicate a good water pump????

3. Last but not least I have white smoke from the exhaust, does this mean the intake manifold needs to come for a fresh set of gaskets???

I could really use some advise here, I'm off work until the 4th I have to get my truck on the road by then.

Sorry to say, but heavy white smoke indicates a blown head gasket. Does the truck overheat or stay cool?

Take it to a radiator shop and have them pressure test it.

Going by your statement above, why think the truck is at fault? Relax and ask yourself, did it run fine before the coolant smell and fog episode?

Take your time, have a beer and let the cooling system bleed or purge the air out, unfortunately it is messy and takes time. I would love to know how the assembly line does this task, any members know?

You fixed the heater core issue, now lets get the truck back to normal without pointing blame at other more complex issues.
