Confused
I have a 2003 f150 xlt 4.2l v6 2 wheel drive. I am the original owner it only has 125,000 miles on it. I recently replaced the alternator because the original one finally went. Ever since i replaced the alternator i have experienced my cluster gauges act erratically, losing illumination of milage and throwing abs and battery lights. The transmission is also acting up, seems to have trouble shifting into 2nd gear. I've had the alternator and battery checked and both are good. The truck left me stranded the other day and would not engage into any gear. I towed it home and let it sit. I woke up the next day started the truck and it engaged in all gears. I swapped out the transmission fluid and filter, did not solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, get the alternator rechecked.
Did you go new or a reman with a 1 year warranty? I realize they aren't cheap but often the remans use inferior windings that don't push out the proper voltage. Hence the 1 year warranty. They also tend to fail in 13-16 months. Then again I've had new starters and alternators bad right out of the box. New doesn't guarantee it "works".
The symptoms you describe are exactly the same as I experienced with a company vehicle I drove and it was due to a bad alternator. They had also replaced the original several weeks prior.
