Question Computer shows no codes

I have a 2000 F-150 with a 5.4 litre engine and whenever I plug my OBD 2 in, it won't show any codes. It works on other vehicles but mine doesn't show anything. Could the computer be pooched?

I'm sure this sounds silly but is your check engine light on? Is the truck running weird?

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys but Henry1434 wouldn't get codes if nothing is wrong right?

Hello again. No it doesn't sound silly but no the check engine light doesn't come on either. I just neglected to mention that, sorry. This may be why I don't get any readings. And no the truck runs fine. Thanks for this so far.
Henry.

This is the first post I have ever seen where somebody is trying to GET a code.....

Unplug one of your coils (COP), the engine will shake, shimmy, and run like crap. You will then get a code.

If the obd2 doesn't turn on check the cigerate lighter fuse. If it does turn on without any codes consider yourself lucky and leave it alone
