Compass turns off when headlights are on??

Compass turns off when headlights are on??
First time posting....
I have a 2003 F150 Lariat 4x4 and the compass was not working as I have read is common. So using this forum i removed the overhead console and resoldered the resistors back on the board which were there hanging by one connection. I put everything back together and Viola it works.....or worked for about 2 months...
Now out of nowhere when the headlights come on the compass turns off. It runs durring the day when the lights are set to auto....or at night if i turn the lights off. As soon as the "headlights" come on it turns off. The amber lights do not turn off the compass.
What gives? haha?
