The ELM327 is still the real deal. I have seen them have issues on GM and Toyota's. Never seen one not work on a Ford though. Just note that if you are using an Apple device, Torque is not available on Apple.... unless it's been pretty recent.... and you can not use a bluetooth ELM327 - you have to get the WiFi version.

If you are not bound by the chains of Apple, you're home free.
