Coil over conversion questions
I'm sure this has been gone over a million and a half times, but I wants to ditch the t-bars and get coilovers, now I've read the only kit is by Dixon. But my questions are what are the issues with getting coil overs to fit. Of course the shock tower would need gussets and added support. How come no one has tried this yet? The ride would be so much better then with the t-bars. I've been looking into it and have a few shock options, and I might order a shock and spring and give it a try. I'm looking at a shock from qa1 it's the ds402 the extended and compressed are the closet I can find to stock lengths http://www.qa1.net/suspension/street...gle-adjustable
Or this shock is very close to the stock lengths
http://www.qa1.net/suspension/street...ront-coil-over
They also offer a conversion kit to make it to a top stud instead of the other way here is the link for that
http://www.qa1.net/suspension/street...onversion-kits
So my thought is with both of these I should be able to stuff one in and give it a try, I'm sure I would need prolly a 750lb spring for the 5.4's weight, anyone that can give me some insight on why this wouldn't work would be greatly appreciated. I'm just curious as to why this hasn't been tried before, my old 97 explorer had a t-bar suspension and many people thought it couldn't be done with out the rcd kit but someone remaned the brackets and sold them and it was able to be done with out a issue. Just needed the right coil over and it was tight between the upper and the cv but it was able to be done. Thanks again guys for any and all help!!
