Default Code P0171 2003 5.4 lariat... HELP!!!

My ladies f150 threw a code today. p0171
Bank 1 lean??

Whats the problem and how can we fix it?

Does it have a misfire? Have you checked PCV and vacuum lines? When was the last time the spark plugs were changed? We need more info.

No spark plug change since we owned it..
Has just over 100k.

No misfire. I havent checked any lines

Would do plugs bud, I do mine every 50k just to be safe. Make sure, and I mean make sure to torque them down right, I'm sure you've heard the plugs blow out.

Change the fuel filter while your at it as well.

and also clean the MAF sensor, inspect and change the air filter as necessary, change the pcv valve. All necessary and inexpensive maintenance.

also recommend only motorcraft plugs

also I wouldn't drive it. Could damage the catalytic converters ( since its a lean code )

oh. Didnt know that... Too late my lady already left. I cleared the code last night... I guess we'll see if it comes back

does she drive it a far distance everyday? Or is it short trips?
