Code 1504
On my 2002 4.6 V8 the 1504 trouble code recently came up.
My truck will start but will die out unless I rev it to around 1000 for a minute.
I read in Haynes to check the IAC wiring harness for voltage of around 10.5-12.5 volts when key is turned on but engine not running.
If that is correct, then measure resistance from either terminal to IAC body and should be 10,000ohms or greater.
I will be doing this tomorrow and should be easy.
The only time that my truck would turn over and refuse to start was due to a blow fuse under the hood that controls the fuel.
Good luck.

I agree. The IAC is not operating correctly. It can cause the motor not to start. Try to push the gas pedal down only about 10% and try and start it. If it is a faulty IAC it should start then. Check the wiring to the unit, but I am guessing the IAC is bad.
I checked voltage and got 11.5V... then cleaned sensor with a rag. When I took sensor out the gasket actually had a crack in it between the two ports so I tried some silicone gasket maker since the IAC looked like it was in good shape. My truck hasn't 'popped' 1504 or stalled in two days with roughly ten starts.
This could be a coincidence but hopefully this easy fix holds up.
