192 is way better than 156. Will it really save me that much fuel?

Right, - the spec is 195 in the book for the V8's, but they used 194's. Same thing or close enough. 192 is to close to the bottom for me. You can use 192-198 though. The tuning doesn't go nuts unless you run lower than 192. Then you'll get all kinds spazzing, DTC's that don't make sense, heat issues and what not.

If the ECM can't ever get into closed loop, it'll always run rich. And Mr. JBrew will tell you all about what that will eventually do to your cats. It's not quite as bad as running with a misfire, but still anti-bueno.

The Motorcraft RT1234 thermostat for the V8's is listed at Rock Auto as 190 deg, but mine is stamped 192 deg.
The Fel-Pro 35489 Water Outlet Gasket generally costs less than the Motorcraft RG571 thermostat housing gasket.

Not sure what your trying to say. But, I wouldn't let RA spec anything on my engine or replacement parts. But they will sell you anything your willing to buy. Better off going with manufacturers spec as I posted above. 190 is definitely out of the margins (again, not sure what your getting at) for NA engines and your a lucky dude if you got away with it. 192 just makes it, - also said earlier. The Nav engines and lightnings run a lower stat, - if I recall you can run a 187 in those modulars. Not that it's ideal, but they won't freak as much.

Mentioned earlier, you can run 192- 198 . 195 IS spec for NA. Quicker closed loop operation, less milky crap under the oil filler cap. For factory original set-ups, you get less and more straying either way from 195. Balance on center is 195..195 is dead nuts, perfectly balanced and when they should begin to open. Actually, Gen 9's, Gen 11's are the same way unless the engine has been modified.

What I was trying to say was someone earlier mentioned Rock Auto had Motorcraft parts for our cars at discounted prices.
Rock Auto carries the Motorcraft RT-1234 thermostat and the RA website says it is 190 deg.
The RT-1234 I bought at Amazon has stamped on it 192 deg so it is actually a 192 deg thermostat and the RA listing is not accurate.
It does seem strange that the Motorcraft thermostats are not 195 deg.

I picked up a Motorcraft t-stat and installed it yetesterd. Right from start up I noticed the difference. Temp guage climbed faster then it ever has and best of all HEAT within 1 minuted compared to at least a 10 minute wait before. Scanner shows me dead on at 194*F
It feels a little more responsive, but that may just be me. THANKS for everyones help and it is on to my next project....cold air intake.

FYI - you already have a cold air intake. Any kit where you put the open element into the engine compartment makes it a hot air intake. If you want an improvement over stock, look into the GOTTS mod. It will cost you under 20 dollars.

Oh, and glad you got the t-stat issue fixed.
