My truck has shown no signs of the clutch starting to go. It's like it won't engage all the way. It's stuck almost engaged. Free movement of the pedal other than a half inch from the floor. Any tips on what it is? Slave cylinder?? 1999 f150 4.6 5spd

Bump, just really need some help guys. I'm pretty sure it's the slave, I just don't want to tear into my tranny if I don't need to. Help me out if you can.

Normally, if the master or slave cylinder go out, the clutch will stay all the way engaged, not less engaged.. Sounds like a problem with the clutch itself.. Maybe the pressure plate?

Sounds like the pressure plate and throwout bearing. How many miles on this clutch? Check your hydro fluid. If you pour some in and start working the clutch and fluid starts coming out of the tranny, its the slave cylinder. Mine did exactly what you say it did when mine went bad at 76K miles. My throwout bearing went out at 95K but had a horrible squeal to it.

168,xxx+ miles. truck runs great. Like I said, it was showing no signs of slipping.. Not around it to check the fluids right now but no fluids were really leaking out of anywhere when I checked after it happened. Either way, looking like I'm gonna have to drop the trans to fix..

Any clutchline issues with require the transmission to be dropped.
