Default clutch issue

I searched to no avail. I have a 1999 f150 4x4, 5 speed transmission with a 4.6 . The previous owner had everything replaced in the clutch system. The issue I have is when backing the truck wants to hop when letting out the clutch in reverse. It also does it in first gear just not as bad. I have read about the slave cylinder on here. To bleed it do you just pump the clutch pedal rapidly? Do you take the clutch reserve fluid lid off during the pumping and does the motor need to be running? Thank you

It is not the rear end. It only does it as you let out the clutch. Any other help would be appreciated, Thank you.

Have you been into the rear end? Just because the truck rolls without hopping doesn't mean that there isn't something wrong with the rear end. In first and reverse when you apply power to the rear end is when it happens according to your above post. Since it is only those two gears, it definately sounds like possibly the rear end. If it were clutch related it would do it in every gear.

To bled the clutch, fill up the reservoir with new fluid. Pump the clutch between 5 and ten times. You do not need to have the engine running. wait about 3 minutes and repeat the procedure. wait another 3 minutes and do it again.

This will often help your clutch from chattering when starting from a dead stop. However, not always if the components are worn.

side note. I have been using DOT 4 in my clutch and brakes. It cost more but has additives to prevent rust and water in your system. Use gloves or take precautions so you don't get the brake fluid on your skin. It absorbs into your body and causes health problems later in life.
