Default Classic Y pipe question

Sorry to bring this old yet common question back to life but I'm stuck. I have the common y heater pipe leaking problem on my 99 F150 XL. I am in need of the pipe with 4 connections exactly as the one below. My question is can I install a pipe with 2 connections and bypass or block the 2 hoses that connect to the intake? What is the purpose of the two 3/8 pipes connecting to the intake?
Thanks again

With coolant running through those 2 lines I wouldn't think so, they connect directly to the plenum. However I am not a master tech either lol.

Here is a better look at where the 2 pipes coming from the water pump y pipe go to on the plenum.
