My friend has a 1997 f150 with a 4.6 with 128,000 miles on it she said they jumped it and the battery gauge went right back down afterwards she said they put a new battery in it and alternator and took the alternator back to advanced auto and had it tested and it tested good she also got a second one and it didn't work either she said when it starts it runs like normal then dies what could it be?

Could be a bad voltage regulator.
