Default charging issues, need big time help

Ok, where should I start. I drive a 97 f150 2wd with the 4.6
l. About, I say 3 months ago, I was making a sharp turn,
and.while turning, my truck killed, which wasn't the first
time. As usual, I put it in neutral, try to stArt it,
nothing! I drove my self crazy for hours onside the road.
Finally, I get to looking behind my tires for possible wire
damage of some sort, and sure enough, the wiring harness that
runs down the driver side frame rail and up the fender well
had been rubbing against my tire and the frame. I touched the
wires alittle, and started right up. No prob. Il fix
the.wires up and be good as new. I started making my way
home, and as I was driving home, I noticed the battery gauge
kept moving further down as I drove, and by the time I got
home, the battery was dead. Popped the hood, and sure enough,
the stud on the alternator had fried the connector for the
main wire. Forgot to mention I had replaced my battery a few
days earlier with a cheap ol $70 wal mart battery. So, I
replaced the alternator with a brand New one from my mechanic
shop, installed it, charged up the battery for a.while with
it connected to another.vehicle, and cranked it up, removed
cables, truck dies. Wtf. So, I took a buddies battery out his
truck, threw it in, ran perfectly fine. So I decided to get
my cheap battery tested and recharged, and came back good
with 12.4 volts under load, which I thought was odd, threw it
in. Same stuff, fluctuating gauge when stopping, headlights
on and braking. I'm stomped. What do I do?

Check first to make sure your getting 12v to the alternator, not the battery wire but the small ones. Should have 12v with the key on. If you don't check your fuses, might have blown one.

Exactly how do I check the alternator voltage? I have a multimeter. And today I checked every fuse. Replaced each one thsr even looked the slightest bit bad.
