There is nothing wrong per say with ceramics. The problem with them is they lead to high maintenance costs due to heat. Typically the rotors are so wrapped that they can't be turned. Along with ceramics destroying the piston seals in the calipers. The hatred I have for them is the maintenance costs.

You haven't been in a glazing or fading situation yet. If I didn't have a shoulder to divert to, that little car in front of me would of been toast. That could of went terrible wrong, no exaggeration. Like I said, the truck actually felt like it picked up speed. My ceramics (one of the best pads made supposedly) were at 50%, the temp outside, heat index over 100*, on the expressway in crazy stop and go fast traffic. My Brembo rotors in good shape. Caliper pins weren't in new shape, but they moved, these were steel piston calipers. It was PAD failure. Granted this happens more with 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and talked about a lot in those forums and RV forums.

The F150 is sort of the divining line, the truck by itself. I don't tow as much as I use to, all I had in the back was king size bed mattress when this occurred. Thing is I could find much wrong with the brakes, I have pics. It's why I went with larger brakes. After further investigation, good info found on heavy truck sites (not you tube, you tube is bias lol) it was the pads. The pads were Carquest Golds , Lifetime Pads that I usually would swap with new after 75% wear, since it was free. I let them go to 50% this time.

Yea, no lie, Ceramics and trucks don't always mix well. A definite safety hazard that could become deadly. If I would of hurt those people or worse.....could you live with that?

For the OP about noise and Ceramic Pads on trucks, just a little info about pads, not much. It did have something about noise with ceramics -

I've noticed some suppliers are being more forthright about ceramics. I'm looking for the link I found last week, right on the box containing new Ceramics pads it said not recommended for towing. That info was hard to find, should of bookmarked it. I came by that link through truck forums. Well if anyone really wants to know, research it, buit you'll have to search in heavier truck forums, towing and RV. The problem isn't limited to heavy duty is the point I'm making. Like I said the F150 is the divining line. This BS happened to me with nothing in tow and I wasn't loaded heavy.
