Default cd deck problems

ok so i installed some subs a few days ago and the switch i just have siting on top of the cd player. it sparked once, but nothing was wrong, so i taped it up so there was no metal on metal, but i must have missed apart. when i was driving with them on i hit a bump and i think it sparked again and my deck shut off and i wont turn on.
i still am getting power to the wires but it wont turn on. even when i wired it directly to the battery it would not work. all fuses are good but dont know about the relays if there is even one that is for the deak. even got a new deck still nothing.
plz help

Little more info please. How did you wire it? Did you get a wiring harness or did you tap into some wires. My first thought was your fuse on the deck popped but it sounded like you checked that. What switch? Make sure your amp is fuse protected with a proper ground. Recheck all connections, fuses in the cab and under the hood.

did you check the fuse under the hood on the power wife? what about the one inside by the kicker panel? and how about the one on the back of the radio? that would have been the first thing I checked. how is that switch wired? because I have a switch to and it has never sparked......relays have nothing to do with the radio, but go ahead an check anyways just so you know there all good. what about your ground on the switch an radio? I would say rewire the switch because it seems like that is your problem. goodluck!

sorry it took so long to post back, been busy. anyway got it to work aparently it was a bad ground. had a friend look at it and we go it. it still shuts off some times when you push to hard on a button or sometimes when i turn the truck on so im going to run a line strait to the batery so hopefully that will fix it for good.

If I were you I'd try n keep that ground as short as possible my subs are grounded to my battery n it tends to overheat my amp every now n then

The "shutoff" is a "protect" feature in the head unit. This means that there's some wire in the harness that's picking up a ground (even if a speaker wire). Might pay for you to remove the head unit, and individually tape (or heat shrink tube) each unused wire, and verify that your "hot" wires (ones in use) do not have a path to each other or ground.
