right i ground my antenna mont to the box then through a steel bolt to another ground strap that goes to the bottom of the bed

don't depend on that bolt through the bed of the truck for grounding !the bed and cab are mounted on rubber pads you still need a ground strap from the bed of the truck to the frame and don't forget the cab needs a ground strap too to make a good electrical ground! grounding is everything in order to get a good signal out and also being able to hear better too! and make sure your radio is hooked up to your battery with fused links for the radio to work at its best! NEVER use the cig lighter for power as the wiring is no where heavy enough to handle the load placed on it! does not matter if it is a CB or Amateur radio all the grounding and power laws apply here!

Im fully aware of this if you check the begining of the thread i explained that i have perfect SWR accross the board 1.1-1.3

Do you need to ground a mag antenna? I bought a wilson 1000 and I dont see anywhere to do it or in the instructions but I dont see why a mag antenna would be different.

No wilson 1000 is grounds to the roof through the magnet you just have to adjust the whip with the 2 adjusters to make it tune correctly
