I desperately need to gut my cats, and I'm wondering if there is any hint on how to cut the metal with no special tool.

also, i would like to know if it would cause any problem to leave it like that (unsoldered) until i get the time to solder it back.

you can do this with an chisel but first you will have to move the heat shield to get at it. it will be a bit loud, make only as big a hole that will do the job and what you want to repair. good luck with it.
