Default cat converters

I have a 97 F150 that I am replacing the cats on. I've seen the full exact sets and I've also seen just an individual cat replacement. My question is can I replace the dual inline cats with the individual single or will that mess up the emissions controls. Any help would greatly appreciated.

I would stay with the factory [OEMs] for fit and function.

Replace both just like you would anything else. If you replace one you will have different flow because if you are replacing it because it is clauged up then the other one is getting close.

troyer performance says you can replace all 4 cats with just 2 of the universal magnaflow high flow cats. i was also told that by a local muffler shop tech. but like everyone else said the truck is built for 4 so go with 4.

Agreed with jacobs. Replace one, replace all. I hate to keep refering to my brother, but I just helped him replace his cats because he was having problems with the CEL. Well we pulled the front two off and found that the passanger side front was shot. He put 4 brand new magnaflow cats on, cuz just like jacobs said, you do one, more than likely you will end up needing to do all. When all was said and done, the truck ran much better, and he got a little bit of his performance back.

I dont think youu rely have to replace 4 with 4 just make sure the two sides are evan. I dont know what kind of sensors there are I think there is just a up stream and down stream so you sould be fine there.
