Default Can you identify this ?

I usually pick your brains as an anonymous guest. Today I ran into a problem.
I replaced heater core yesterday. This morning I lifted the steering column to bolt it back in.. and this fell on the floor. It's .625 dia. .125 thick with a clip in the center..
Im thinking linkage of some kind or some other pin that needs to be held in place. But I have no clue..I don't see anything. If you have an idea.. throw it out there. Lol. I'm not sure if I should finish with the job until I find out what it is.. I'd hate to have to pull it all apart again..
I knew it was going too easy.. any help is appreciated. Thanks .

Take the nuts out that hold the column in place, I'm almost positive it goes around the studs on the underside of the column before you put the nut back on, should be one on each stud.

He's talking about the 4 mounting holes in this pic:

(phone app link)

2 of those have white plastic inserts, and 2 are on a bendable steel bracket - they allow the column to collapse into the dash during an impact. Yours may be slightly different.

Here's a better shot of it..
so it would be on one of the studs towards the firewall ? After I'm done with flushing & putting hoses on . I'll have to get up under there and get a good look. Thanks.
