Those Lance Campers are heavy as hell for a stick and tin unit. Top that off, that one is for an extended or crew cab truck, and has the 18"' tail overhang. The dry weight of the camper is around 2200#,so that is quite a load for that chassis. That 9.6 is a nice rig. We sold them for a while before switching over to BigFoot units. The 8.6 would of been a better fit to the truck cab, but would take away the queen bed and make it a double. The weight difference is only a couple hundred pounds, so the queen bed makes up for the weight difference.

Brew, do you know if he has air bags in the rear or at least some SD springs? Pulling that trailer adds tongue weight also. I'd bet that truck is a handful to drive with that set up. I like the beefy look, but it's just too much for that unit. Hell, it's too damn much for an 88 or newer 3/4 Chevy too. LOL

Looks like if just a leaf fell on the back of that camper, those front wheels would come off the ground.

I've been keeping an eye out for a camper shell too.... hard to come by here. With a baby on the way and a dog... our trips to visit family get cramped quick with the supercab. The bed would be nice to throw stuff in without worrying about them getting wet. Last night I through our luggage in a 50gal trash bag lol

My Scab still goes well for us, and I have a teenager. I wouldn't want to drive to California in it, but a couple hundred miles isn't bad. Mine also has had 2 car seats in it at one time.

My Ranger on the other hand.... it is gone because I couldn't put kids back there.

Yeah when we visit family it's 2 cats 1 husky me my wife and then soon to be car seat... doesn't leave us much room for luggage to stay out of the rain lol plus I usually bring stuff down to help the father in law so chainsaws, toolbox, etc. I just want a camper shell for days it threatens to downpour. Don't think I'd leave it on most of the time but would be nice I have.

That and I've been thinking about updating to a crewcab

I've had the same thought about getting a Screw. In fact, there was one for sale down the street from me not too long ago. Probably would have been more serious if it wasn't lifted. It looked great, and he only wanted 5 grand IIRC.

Saw this truck at the local lake and knew I wanted to do something similar. Nothing too crazy about the look but I just love it .

You know Brian that is such a clean truck. It's too bad whoever added the shell didn't tint the clear to match your truck a bit closer. It's not a negative, just an observation. The shell is at least 3 shades lighter than the truck color, so a good tint clear would of brought that to perfect. Still, quite a nice ride. Did you post that you got that from family?
