For those who are familiar with the 7700/Expedition brakes - I just installed the calipers on my truck and they are rattling all over the place, creating a hollow clunk at low speeds over bumps. The reman semi loaded calipers I got did not come with any kind of anti rattle clips for the caliper itself. The design of the slide rails that go on the bracket kind of hold the calipers in place, but I can still move them up and down about 1/8th of an inch when the truck is parked. What am I missing here?
Only thing I can see from here is weak rotors ? Iduno, can't determine how thick they are really, they might be. Slotted didn't use to have the beef for these trucks in the past. That MIGHT be contributing to the problem if they are not thick enough. Guessing since I'm almost blind and can't touch lol.
I do know those brake lines are junk, - that's for sure. They have break down issues on the inside, become very restrictive. One of Ford worse products for our systems. They can't be bent in cold weather for a period of time or they'll alligator inside and peel (break down). When not in use, you have to hang them as straight as possible, preferable at room temp. You want good braking, - offing the factory type lines are important part of that. BIG difference.
But yea that's all I see or notice. So they don't have the same hardware, - or hardware pieces your old had ? I don't mean the same size, just the parts ..know what I'm saying ? Or are they different as in how everything's supported.
Yea that clunk sound has to be the caliper moving..until it hits or catches.
All that said, I've never messed with that set up in-particular. I went the beefy Brembo route. But your system SHOULD be bad ***.
Anyway, That's all I notice from here, hope you get it figured out.
BTW, - Do you have a factory hardware list ? That way you'll know what your suppose to have up there anyway.
Good Luck!
EDIT: CarCrazy did this I believe, I'm sure he'll post if he catches this one, might want to PM.
Hopefully you used the Expedition rotors. If you didnt that would be one reason why you have a rattle. The other problem is you dont have both anti rattle clips installed. They are needed

They are indeed Expedition rotors. I am missing anti rattle clips... This is the info I was needing to know. Can you elaborate on them or post a picture of what they look like? I assumed they would come with the caliper but they did not.
Can't tell if you are joking or not...but I do appreciate your response, even though the brake line stuff wasn't exactly relevant to the thread.
I wasn't laughing, regardless. It was totally relevant. I mean what exactly are you going for here ? Right.
Don't worry, I realize how you operate now and know what you mean. Would rather not have any dealings with your sort, - it's what makes sense for this ignore list. Put me on yours.

I did the brakes on my dads f250 last weekend and they didn't come with clips either. Had to make him run back to the store and get some in a kit. That was autozone. The pads I got for my truck from napa came with clips. I'm not a mechanic by trade, so someone feel free to correct me if I missed something or am wrong. Hope this all helps a little bit though.
This is the same kit I got for the f250 except its for expedition front and just has the clips and not the bushings.
