Default Caliper question

How do I know if a caliper is bad without taking stuff off and apart? I'm no mechanic so I'm wondering if there are any signs that a caliper could be bad? Any help is much appreciated.

The brake drags? Lol. No signs visually unfortunately.

When a caliper goes bad is it possible for it to lock up and not be able to work? But with no dragging?

Yes. It happens that it could freeze. To test it, lift the front wheels, spin the tires and press on the brake and it should stop/feel resistance. Then when you start the truck it should release and spin again. Compare to the other side to be sure.
