CAI Question
This may be a dumb question but I was just curious about the cheaper CAI's on ebay for like $75. Are these any good or are they poop? Could they harm my 4.6 at all, as opposed to getting a nicer system like K&N? Below is the link for one......

i reaal couldnt see how they would harm anything and the only major difference would be the quality of filter and the ebay ones just have a straight intake tube and a 90 degree elbow and the k&n has a highflow tube but other than that shouldnt anything very different. i have a k&n 77 seriees its nice but 300 bucks lol

will run you OVER
I do know that CAI with open top boxes wont do as good of a job as a enclosed box becuase the engine heat can get sucked into the intake...thats why OEM intakes have a enclosed box that has a tube going into the fender.
some race classes use gold flake to help reduce intake temps b/c rules are they have to use factory intakes.

Check out the ISO 5011 tests for most any oiled air filter. I'll just use S&B's data for their filters as an example. Even they concede that their oiled filters don't do as good of job filtering as the stock paper or their dry filter. As far as the a/f ratios go, whenever the MAF environment is changed there is a chance a/f will be skewed. This mainly affects the slot style MAF in the newer trucks, but even the 2v motors can run lean due to MAF placement.
I worked in an SAE testing site for years, so it's not a problem for me backing my claims I'm use to it.
