Default CAD unit seized in bracket. How to remove?

I want to remove my center axle disconnect diaphragm unit on the front axle of my 03. All the instructions I've found just say remove the circlip and take it out. Not this one. Its seized in the bracket from 17 years of Alberta road salt. I've tapped on the housing gently, but its bakelite and can't take a lot. I don't want to break anything. Prying and tapping on the control rod only moves it not the unit. I tried Visa grips on the narrow part of the housing, it turns but not the mounted part. The piece which goes through the bracket looks like brass, I've tried vice grips gently on that, but don't want to damage it either. And yes I've sprayed it with wd40. How do I get this thing out guys? Or gals?

I am not familiar with the location of that circlip so this may not be possible.
Use a Dremel and grind away the circlip until it releases.
PB Nut Blaster works better than WD-40 on rusted components
I hope this helps

Guess I didn't describe that very well. I got the circlip off fairly easily. It's the rest of it that's stuck. I think I've got some PB. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Default Solution

Found that if you get a long screwdriver and position it against the diff, you can drive it back through the bracket using a small ball pein hammer. Didn't seem to hurt the brass piece to do that.
