Default A/C Pulley Seized - What to Replace?

So we pulled up to a gate at the deer lease and the truck died. This is when we discovered the A/C pulley was not moving and (sadly) got towed home by a Chevy...

I've done most of the basic reading around here to know which pieces may need to be replaced and how to do each part but was hoping to see if ya'll had a better diagnostics of what broke.

Details:
The A/C pulley will not budge an inch (using my hands).
The triangular center piece (I assume a clutch piece) will spin loosely.
Truck operates fine with the belt removed. All other pulleys spin fine.

So did my compressor implode internally or did the bearings on the pulley sieze? If it's the pulley, can I replace the pulley and clutch without draining and recharging the Freon?

Thanks!

Mike

ya, sounds like the compressor clutch assembly. Im wondering if the compressor is getting the oil necessary and if the bearings are shot causing a cease. I have the manual for the HVAC but its very big and its for an 08. What Im saying is that I have the HVAC section and if you need it give me an email address and Ill send you the HVAC section. Its pretty in depth.

Need a clutch/compressor. I don't think they sell just the clutch anymore. I may be mistaken, but i'm pretty sure they don't except for maybe a big truck. And to replace the compressor/clutch yes gatta use a vacuum pump (or ac machine if you have one) take the freeon out

You can bypass the a/c for now. Get a belt for non a/c. The belt placement should be on your sticker on the fan shroud.

mine was on it's way out making awful noise, Rockauto had the clutch kit for if I remember right but it was almost the same price as a new compressor. Likewise as others have mentioned you can get a bypass pulley for cheap to get you up and running quick.

I think this may be what's happening to mine, the noise is terrible but hard to pinpoint.

The very same thing happened to me about a week ago and it was just the bearings in the clutch ! I change it without take the compressor out. Not easy! Helps if you take the bottom skid plate off..
